Photo Scans

Photos are posted in two resolutions, "lo-fi" (generally adequate for on-screen display) and "hi-fi" (the highest available resolution, suitable for printing). When a thumbnail would be useful, that is given as well. Lo-fi images download fairly fast even with a dial-up connection, since they usually are between 20 KB and 100 KB. Hi-fi images typically are between 150 KB and 1.5 MB, and so are best left to those who have broadband Internet access (or significant patience with a dial-up connection) or who are having trouble reading scanned text with their particular monitor/screen-resolution combination.

Please notify Art if you are having problems or have a suggestion that would make your use of this website easier.

Contributed Photos Please contribute to this growing collection!

  • Jean Claude Aubourg has contributed scans from his souvenir album from 1953-54. There are shots of Art, Emmie, Jean Claude, Owen, Pete, the Galbraith family, and others.
  • George Cadwell has contibuted 9 nice photos that appear on the Previous Reunions page, plus a few more that are attached to his personal information page (don't miss his entertaining accounts of his travels).
  • Fil Graff has contributed some nice vintage pictures, now in this photo album (updated 10/23/2005) with thumbnails, medium-fi, and hi-fi versions.
  • Jim Graham has contributed a fun photo album.
  • Jim Graham recently submitted these 19 snapshots of Mr. Springsteed, Sleepless (our only shot of him!), Bruce, Mike, Herb, John, Jean Claude, Woody, and others. We need your help to identify everyone. Uploaded 10/2006
  • Naomi Johnson has contributed 26 candid 1954 snaps of Emilie, John, Peg, Azby, Diane, George, Mrs. Stubbs, and a couple of unidentified people (if you can identify any of the unidentified people or campus features in the background, please tell Art). These pictures were originally Emmie's, which she sent to Doris, who sent them to Naomi, who sent them to Art.
  • Pete Klinge has contributed a beautiful photo that appears with the online version of his book on the Memorabilia Scans page, and another that appears on the Previous Reunions page.
  • Sarah Leonori recently submitted these 9 snapshots, circa 1953, of Naomi, Jim, Patsy, John, and a few others. We need your help to identify everyone. Uploaded 10/2006
  • Walda Whiteley has contributed a massive and fascinating photo album.
  • Additional photos appear on at least 8 of the personal pages.

FA Archive Scans

On Saturday afternoon of reunion weekend, we gained access to the vintage photos in FA's archive. Here is what we found. Other vintage photos can be seen in the PowerPoint slides on the Reunion Report page.

Do you have any pictures of campus life during our years at FA? You know, in those cupboards and drawers and boxes that you haven't looked at in decades? Think about the value of those old pictures to the families -- children, grandchildren, eventually great grandchildren, etc. -- of the classmates whose youthful images you are hoarding. Wouldn't you love to have pictures of your parents, grandparents, and greatgrandparents during their high school years? Then please share these images! If yousend originals or scans to Art at ageoffri@anderson.ucla.edu, he will put them online for all to enjoy, returning the originals by UPS.
